An evergreen, medium sized spreading tree that produces weeping branches and cascading foliage. This tree occurs in challenging coastal regions near beaches and estuaries. Casuarina equisetifolia has a tolerance to drought, exposed areas, sandy soils and salt wind and soils, making is a hardy tree for coastal plantings. Casuarina equisetifolia is waterwise and ideal for mass plantings and highly useful for rejuvenation of poor sites. They are also used as a general wind breaker. Plant Casuarina equisetifolia in an area of full sun and well drained soils. Casuarina equisetifolia does grow best in sandy conditions. Keep soil moist until established.
