Eucalyptus nicholii - Peppermint Gum
Eucalyptus nicholii, is a narrow-leaved Black Peppermint, also known as Willow Peppermint. A medium size eucalypt growing to 16m tall it is a popular tree due to it's attractive foliage and neat pyramidal habit. Mature leaves are narrow lanceolate shape a dull green grey colour. When crushed the leaves have a strong peppermint smell accounting for its common name of Willow Peppermint. Mostly found in south eastern Australia, often planted as an ornamental tree in private gardens, and used as windbreaks. White flowers appear from late Summer to early Autumn. As with most other Eucalypts are drought and frost tolerant once established.
