This is the macadamia for cooler regions. The pointy, crinkled leaves are decorated in spring by long, graceful racemes of small flowers. These turn into strings of easily hulled nuts with a thin, pebbly shell. M.tetraphylla has a high sugar content and is considered the best flavoured nut.
