Persea americana (B) - Fuerte Avocado
Medium pear-shaped fruit, smooth dark green skin, rich creamy flesh. Produces a biennial crop (every 2nd year).
Matures: May - October
Pollination: Type B - Self fertile but benefits from cross pollination with Hass, Reed, Wurtz or Pinkerton. Pollinated by bees. Pollination will be adversely affected if Spring temperatures are below 10 at night and below 20 during the day.
Growing Regions: Dislikes frost and wind. Avocadoes are prone to root rot, so require well-drained soils but also need irrigation in dry months.
Size: Can grow to 10m, but should be pruned after harvest to keep at 3m.
