Persea americana (A) - Wurtz Avocado
The smallest variety of Avocado tree, growing to 3m, suitable for pots. Produces small green, pear shaped fruit with delicious creamy flesh.
Matures: November - Feb.
Pollination: Type A - Self fertile, however will benefit with cross pollination from Bacon, Edranol or Fuerte varieties. Pollinated by bees. Pollination will be adversely affected if Spring temperatures are below 10 at night and below 20 during the day.
Growing Regions: Must be frost free and sheltered from wind. Avocadoes are prone to root rot, so require well-drained soils but also need irrigation in dry months.
